Xi' Jinping'ss Jiangxi Tour


President Xi Jinping toured east China’s Jiangxi province this week. This was his first domestic tour since the escalation of trade war with the United States. Jiangxi is where China’s Red Army started its Long March in 1934. President Xi’s choice of destination, as per the South China Morning Post, is to evoke a spirit of endurance and rally public opinion behind the regime, amid rising tensions over trade war with Washington.


Highlights of Xi’s tour:


- Visit to Army Infantry College


On May 21st, President Xi visited Army Infantry College of the PLA in east China’s Jiangxi province. Since the 18th National Party Congress (NPC) of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which happened in 2012, Xi has repeatedly visited military colleges and universities in different parts of the country. During the current visit, Xi stressed on the implementation of a strong military ideology and urged teachers to develop scientific rigor for strengthening military academies across China. He insisted on improving the level of military education in these institutions, which would help in developing talent for the future. Xi stressed on strengthening the top level design of these institutions, in order to develop long term planning, scientific target map and blueprint for future.
